Dr. Gefen is an occupational therapist with 30 years of experience, specializing in assistive technology, medical devices, powered mobility and telerehabilitation for children with disabilities. She has served as Deputy Director General of ALYN Hospital’s Pediatric & Adolescent Rehabilitation Center in Jerusalem since 2012. Dr. Gefen is responsible for allied health clinical services, including occupational and physical therapy, speech and language pathology, psychology, social work and education. She is a principal investigator for ALYN PARC, where she heads the domain of Technology for Rehabilitation and Independent Function.
Dr. Gefen holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, a Master’s of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School as a 2008 Wexner Israel Fellow, and a PhD in Occupational Therapy from the University of Haifa. During her 26 years at ALYN, Dr. Gefen has played a leading role in the development of new service offerings, including a national website of assistive technology, safe transportation for children with disabilities, and the hospital’s Powered Mobility Lending Program.
