Itay's Story: Regaining Independence Through Innovation

Itay, a 26-year-old IDF soldier who lost part of his right arm in combat, faced challenges performing daily rituals like putting on tefillin. Thanks to a collaborative PELEthon, a specialized device was developed to assist amputees in donning tefillin independently, adhering to halachic standards. This innovation restored Itay's ability to perform this daily mitzvah without assistance, significantly enhancing his sense of autonomy and dignity. Read more and watch the video
Oriah’s Story: Turning Pain into Purpose
Oriah, a teen from Netivot, was injured on October 7th by a mortar shell and lost two toes, leaving her with severe nerve pain that made standing for long periods unbearable. PELE engineers designed a custom sandal insert that dramatically reduced her discomfort, allowing her to move freely again. After cooking home-made Shabbat meals for soldiers for nearly four hours, she sent the PELE staff this heartfelt message:
