Standardizing oculomotor assessment in neurorehabilitation. Researchers include Elizabeth Dannenbaum and Prof. Joyce Fung, from the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital, Laval, Quebec. Although oculomotor screening has been incorporated into physical therapy and occupational therapy assessments for patients with neurological or vestibular disorders, there are no uniform, validated assessment tools. A standardized and reliable tool would support the development of therapeutic plans, monitor outcomes and facilitate further decisions for appropriate consultation or specialized referral. Students in this project are expected to develop a quick (15-30 minutes) assessment tool after reviewing the literature. Each proposed assessment tool is pilot tested on a small sample of neurologic or vestibular patients and controls, as compared to computerized oculomotor measures.
