The Legacy Heritage Fund Independent Living Neighborhood for Ventilator-Dependent Young Adults
is accomodation for ventilator-dependent young adults who are suffering from muscular dystrophy or spinal injuries and who are mobile using electric wheelchairs.
The Independent Living Neighborhood provides a domestic framework for these young adults (aged 18 – 40 ) who are dependent on ventilators. This facility allows the residents to achieve a balance between independent living and their need for constant medical supervision. A skilled team of therapists is available at all times.
The Neighborhood, designed by the architects and other professionals in cooperation with the young adults, includes:
